Puzzle Possibilities
Jan Roy's artwork offers a great opportunity for color-line cutting. This is the process of cutting precisely on the line between two different, but adjacent colors.
In Scene 3 — The Bouquets, one sees the lilac-colored floor adjacent to the teal windows. Cutting on the color line between this two areas would result in a little confusion for the assembler as he or she would look to find a similar colored piece to fit either into the lilac floor or teal colored window.

Jan V. Roy
For 25 years, Jan Roy designed and printed silk-screen cards and posters while maintaining
her company Salt Marsh Graphics. Much of her work was commissioned by various cultural organizations including her first poster in 1979 from the Portland Symphony Orchestra, followed by a twenty-year stint with the Massachusetts Horticultural Society. During her silk-screen career Jan designed over 40 posters commissioned by organizations such as The Nature Conservancy, Sarah Caldwell's Opera New England, The Grand Teton Music Festival and The New England Conservatory. Her very successful Brooklyn Bridge Centennial poster resulted in one-man shows in Rome, Italy and Paris, France.
Jan turned her attention to pastels and oil painting in 1999. Not unlike her prints, she still finds shape and color most important in her work, but the new medium allows more freedom in dealing with subleties of light and its effect on varied landscapes.
Here are a few of Jan Roy's beautiful illustrations that we can craft you a puzzle from. Puzzle sizes and piece count are approximate. If you would like a different size puzzle crafted, just let us know.
